Nokia N95

The creator of the Pre and Pixi models, Palm, has been rumored to be a gleam in the eye of Nokia. It is being reported that Nokia is interested in Palm due to the company's roster of smartphones throughout the years. An acquisition of this nature could go a long way in taking it to the competition, Apple and Blackberry.

Palm's shares shot up 8% today in light of these rumors which gives them a bit more validity. For a good portion of this year, there have been talks of someone buying out Palm but as of yet nothing has solidified.

The latest rumor comes off the lawsuit that Nokia is taking Apple over patent infringements. This could be just a coincidence, or a sign of Nokia trying to make a bold statement.

As of now, Motorola, Dell, and Microsoft have all been rumored to be interested in purchasing Palm.
