During the period of July-September, Nokia posted a profit of $733 million. This is in stark contrast to the reports of how Nokia was going to continue losing money, to the new up and coming cell phone makers. Sales are reported to have increased by 5 percent, with a swelling in China, and both North/South America. Though it's good news of posting profit, Nokia announced they will be cutting 1,800 jobs as they're still coming back from losses earlier in the year. Stephen Elop, Nokia's new CEO said this about the report, "We must reassess our role in and our approach to this industry" "We will make both the strategic and operational improvements necessary to ensure that we continue to delight our customers and deliver superior financial results to our shareholders."
