One of the biggest complaints about the N95's 5 megapixel digital camera is the quality of the onboard image processing, this is where the N95's software digitally process the RAW image data from the CMOS sensor and converts them to jpeg format. During this process a lot of the image quality is lost due to the high compression used by the handset.
But Tea Vui Huang has released a "Digital Negative" imaging application which will allow you to capture and store images in RAW (unprocessed) format. This digital negative contains all the RAW data from the CMOS sensor and whilst it is not a viewable image format as such, it can be transfered to several image processing applications such as photoshop, where you can then work on the image file to produce higher quality images without the terrible quality loss from the N95's compression software. The DNG (Digital Negative) software can be downloaded from Nokia MOSH here http://mosh.nokia.com/content/46C65CB185D86908E040050A4430067B
