This Python application has been around for a little while, and whilst I am a great fan of accelerometer applications for the N95 I found the installation instructions / procedure for NiiMee! far to complicated to bother with it... But I came across a reference to it again today and I though that I would give it a try...

What is NiiMee? Read on to find out...

Imagine that you could control your PC's mouse with your N95 - just by moving the N95... and wirefree via bluetooth... This is NiiMee!

Okay so you are now imagining that you can move your cursor around your screen and click on a few icons by waving your N95 around - yes you can do this and trust me, the first time you do it - it will blow you away! It's amazing to see and use, it's natural in a way I cannot describe... But that is going to get boring eventually right? Well how about you load up your favourite car racing / rally game and drive the car with your phone, or fly a plane in a flight simulator by moving the N95 around... The possibilities are endless!

Now for the downside stuff...

You will need a bluetooth connection from your PC to your N95.

You will need the accelerometer plug-in

You will need to install Python on your N95

You will need NiiMee running on your PC

Phew! It's a long list which is why I have packaged ALL the files you will need to get this working and wrote a simple step-by-step guide on getting it all working...

The download is here http://www.nokia-n95.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=120&func=fileinfo&id=35

And there is even a cool video available here http://www.nokia-n95.net/index.php?option=com_seyret&task=videodirectlink&id=22 so you can see NiiMee in action!

Big respect and thanks to the author of NiiMee here http://www.niime.com/index.htm

Just a quicky for anyone having problems obtianing a com port below 10 for there bluetooth to register to work with niimee (niimee does not work with anything over 10, this can be found in your device manger as to where you bluetooth com port is)

if it is over 10 then open up a comand promt and type the following exactly, inc spaces lower case and upper, the first line is all a one line command

C:\> set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

(then it will drop down to another c:\>)
(type as seen)

C:\> devmgmt.msc

Then on Device manager click View and Show hidden" devices and your nonpresent devices will appear.

there is a diffrence between non hidden and nonpresent.

go into your ports and you will see it has now listed all your ports. delete coms that you do not think you will use, or delete them and then just reinstall your other software on a higher com number :O)
