If there is a *TOP* question being asked all over the internet at the moment by N95 users - it's how do I get the excellent RotateMe application working on my phone?
The probem is that currently the application is "unsigned" and fails the N95's certificate checking and won't install... But it is possible to sign the file yourself if you are willing to give up 10 - 15 minutes of your time and follow some simple instructions. I have added a "signing kit" to our downloads section - it includes all the files you need to self-sign any "unsigned" symbian application PLUS instructions on how to use them. You will need to get a FREE account at www.symbiansigned.com but this is quick and painless and then you just need the software included in the zip file from our downloads section here http://www.nokia-n95.net/download/applications/signing-files/download.html I have also added the latest RotateMe file to our downloads section here http://www.nokia-n95.net/download/applications/roateme-for-the-n95/download.html - you will also need this file! Full instructions are included in the zip file - follow them to the letter and you should have a fully working version of RotateMe in a few minutes! The signing application will require your handsets IMEI number - to find this just type *#06# on your N95. Comments (10) | Add as favourites (54) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 12669 |

I've just had an email from Samir the author of RotateMe to let me know that v2.0 is finally out and available for FREE DOWNLOAD from his website http://www.bysamir.fr/rotateme/ - The application is currently UN-SIGNED and will require signing although Samir has applied to SymbianSigned to get the application signed for use on all S60 handsets.
You will need the accelerometer plug-in available here http://www.nokia-n95.net/download/applications/n95-accelerometer-plugin/download.html if you have not installed it already. (if you are currently using any accelerometer apps then you have this installed already). Comments (10) | Add as favourites (47) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 10822 |

The creator of RotateMe - Samir, has released the BETA version of his latest and some say greatest creation "NokMote".
If you are unaware what NokMote is - it's a way of controlling your N95 by tilting / twisting & flicking it rather than use the menu direction buttons, there has been a video of an early version of NokMote floating around for a while - watching someone literally "flicking" though the images in their gallery was amazing! But now a BETA version has been officially relased and is availble to all donators at http://www.bysamir.fr/nokmote/ There are also some cool video's of NokMote in action... Check 'em out - it's really amazing! PLEASE do not ask me to upload the BETA version of NokMote to this website - it's currently in early BETA (not finished) and Samir has released this BETA to anyone who wishes to "Donate" to the project... I WILL NOT be distributing NokMote (as per Samir's wishes) until it is released as a free app by Samir himself. I have been testing the early BETA of NokMote - click the read more button to find out what I think! Comments (4) | Add as favourites (45) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 6622 |

One of the most complained about features, or more to the point "lack of" feature of the N95 and N95 8Gb is the inability to end calls by closing the slider... I get emails about this all the time - and I didn't have an answer... UNTIL NOW!
Slide Hangup v1 for S60 devices allows you to do just that - end the call by closing the slider! The application installs and runs in the background - no configuration needed. I have added the UNSIGNED .sis file to our downloads section here http://www.nokia-n95.net/download/applications/slide-handup-unsigned/download.html - you need to sign the application before you install it to your phone, alternatively I will shortly be adding this application to the list of files that we can sign via our "signing service" - for a small £2 donation. I have not currently tested this appication personally - but I understand that it DOES work! Comments (4) | Add as favourites (48) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 6288 |

Graham, the author of the fantastic (and popular) LightSabre application has just released a new updated version (v1.3). Improvements include: o Opening and closing Slider turns sabre on and off o Press any number key for sabre hit o More fx samples for swings o More Vrumms less Tishes o Press left for medium vol right for Max vol o Press up for dark side , down for light side o Back on the old N95 acceleromter API so more sensitive again. I have added the new file to our downloads section here http://www.nokia-n95.net/downloads/applications/lightsabre-v1.3/download.html - Looking at the amount of people registering and downloading LightSabre it seems that Graham has created THE killer application for the N95...! The author of the excellent FlipSilent application is making yet another sure fire hit application - Shake It!
Shake it is basically a new and cool way to read your text messages (SMS's). Instead of getting your phone out of your pocket, open the slider, press a button to read the message and then several buttons to return to the menu and then close the slider to lock the phone again... With Shake it - you can do all this with couple of shakes of the phone! Imagine - "BEEP, BEEP" - you pull your phone out of your pocket, shake it, read the message and then shake it again and put it back in your pocket...! The application is still in BETA (development stage) and there is currently no expected release date but there is a video to show you the concept http://www.nokia-n95.net/n95-videos/2.html The only concern is the sensitivity at this stage - if it's too sensitive then any slight physical activity will mean the phone will open messages, close them and lock itself again in your pocket! Let's hope you can adjust the sensitivity like all good accelerometer apps. I will let you all know once Shake It! has been released... The creator of RotateMe, NokMote & YTPlayer (Samir) has started working on a new project called "Shut Up!"
When I first saw this on his website a few days ago I thought / presumed that it would probably be a way of turning off the handset's alarm by shaking it - or something similar... Well I was nearly correct but what it actually does is WAY WAY cooler than that! How about if you alarm goes off, or your phone rings and you don't want to take the call - and to silence the phone / end the call you just place it face down! HOW COOL IS THAT? Take a look at the projects webpage - there is a really good (but long) video showing what Shut Up! is all about... http://www.bysamir.fr/shutup/ Comments (1) | Add as favourites (44) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 3125 |

The excellent and super cool application "LightSabre" has been updated to v1.5! Improvements include: - Vibration Support.
- Set Sabre Colour (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, Cyan & Magenta).
- Volume Control.
- Sensitivity Control.
For those of you who don't know what LightSabre is - it uses the N95's built in movement sensor to allow you to swing your N95 around like an StarWars Jedi Knight with the LightSabre sounds as you swing! You can download the new version here http://www.nokia-n95.net/download/light-sabre-/lightsabre-v1.5/download.html - You should un-install any previous versions before installing v1.5 Just a quick note: I have just tried the new version and there is a bit of a "quirk" - the sensitivity control is backwards... The higher the sensitivity is set the LOWER the sensitivity becomes! Comments (10) | Add as favourites (36) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 3118 |

The excellent FlipSilent has been updated to v1.02 - My appologies if this news is a bit "old", I try to keep up with all the latest news on N95 software but this update slipped under my radar... To make amends I think we should take a closer look at FlipSilent, the new v1.02 release includes a lot of new configurations options and bug fixes... So read on if you want to learn more. The guys over at www.symbianresources.com have created "ShakerRacer" which is a RC (Remote Controlled) car and used the N95's tilt sensors to control it!
What they have basically done is strip out the normal RC stuff from the car and replaced it with a Bluetooth reciever, then wrote a Python script that translates the N95's tilt sensor output into commands that the car can understand! Brilliant and there's a video too (which I have added to our video's section here http://www.nokia-n95.net/index.php?option=com_seyret&task=videodirectlink&id=17 ) Apparantly it's very easy to control - with the movements coming very naturally... have you ever played a racing game at home and found yourself leaning into the corners? LOL What will be next for the N95 - I have no idea but I cannot wait to find out! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (38) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 2957 |
