Have you used the N95's barcode scanner yet? The chances are - you haven't and don't really have a clue WHY the N95 has a barcode reader in the first place?

Well - firstly, the N95 doesn't read "barcodes" not in the sense that you think... You are probably thinking of the black and white stripes you find on the side of a tin of beans? Well there are other sorts of barcodes and it is these "others" that the N95 can read and decrypt.

The uses for these "barcodes" are many - you can put messages, website links, phone numbers and many other bits of information into these codes. Try using your N95's barcode scanner on this image to see if you can get the encrpyted message. To use the barcode reader firstly open the barcode application (inside the Office folder), open the main camera lens cover and click the "scan" button - line up the 2 red outer lines to the edge of the image and the N95 should focus and then decrypt the message... GOOD LUCK!

Nokia`s barcode reader isn`t quite successful. Try and compare with kaywa`s!

There's actually a nice Firefox plugin to generate a barcode with the URL of the page you're visiting. You can get it here: Mobile Barcode

It's used more in Asia for advertising and social networking... These barcode appear in magazines, on posters etc and when scanned they give the reader extra information (web address or promotional code etc) it hasn't really caught on in the UK (yet) :zzz
