One of the most popular questions I get asked is how to stop the N95's sat-nav (GPS) system from using your mobile internet connection (GPRS) for updates etc and costing you a fortune! Well the answer is simple - either get good data package (web ;n Walk from T-Mobile for example) OR you can just turn off the ability for the N95 to use the data network... - Open the MAPS application on your phone.
- Press "Options".
- Press "Settings".
- Press "Network".
- Select "Use Network" and change this setting from "When Needed" to "Never".
Your N95 should no longer connect via your GPRS network connection, but this also means that it can no longer download any maps that it needs from the smart2go servers, you need to make sure that the map(s) you need are already on your phone and if not install them via your PC (using the MapLoader application from Smart2Go). If the maps application stops working whilst you are out and about then you will need to reverse the steps above to get the GPRS working again to allow the application to download any data that it may need.
