Using your cell phone as a node for internet access, is an ability that only a few know about. It can be quite handy, especially if you need to get on the internet with no wi-fi connection. In order to successfully use your Nokia n95 as a node, you'll need to get a couple of things setup in order to have it work properly. First, you'll need to set-up a data plan that has the option for Tethering. The charge for tethering depends on what service you use, but ranges anywhere from $50-$70. This is the most important step, because if you try to tether without a plan you'll have a massive bill. The second step is less expensive, but just as important. The device that is being connected through the tethering, will need the proper software. The Nokia PC Suite , is a free download and you'll need to put it on your tethered device. Lastly, the connection will have to run through your Nokia n95 USB cable. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (26) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 17036 |

That's right - thanks to some extensive testing by Jay from the Mobileburn.com forum it has been discovered that by using an aftermarket N95 cover you can squeeze the massive 1200mAh battery from the US N95-3 (and the yet to be released N95 8Gb) into the original Euro N95-1... You can see from this picture that the results with a "clear" case are NOT pretty, but with a solid (non transparent) case you wouldn't know any difference! One of the big problems that Nokia n95 users have is conserving battery life. With all of the cool gadgets, and applications it can be hard to make sure that your phone is staying charged. Here are a few hints & tips to help you make sure your phone is always charged. - This might sound like a 'duh' statement, but always make sure your phone is charging at night. Most people I talk to almost always forget to actually charge their phones. Try and get in the habit of plugging your phone in every night before you go to bed.
- The largest battery consumption that your phone undergoes is camera usage. When you're out and with friends, make sure that your viewfinder is only up when you're immediately taking a photo. Once you've taken a shot, close it down until you think you'll need it again. Even if it's only a minute between shots, you'll be saving a lot of battery life for doing so.
- Keep most of your scanning modes off, unless you're somewhere that you don't know how to connect. WLAN is one mode you should keep off, mostly because you can scan for connections manually. We all love 3G, but sometimes it just isn't necessary. If you know you're somewhere that you don't necessarily need 3G, go to 'Tools | Settings | Phone | Network, and change the Network mode setting to GSM. This will keep your phone from automatically trying to find a 3G signal.
- Buy a car charger. I know it sounds simple, but you can save so much battery life by keeping your phone charged when you're in the car. If you use your Nokia n95 as a GPS then this tip should really be taken to heart
I hope that these tips help you as you try to conserve battery life. As smartphones get more powerful, and application friendly, the more life a battery takes. There are ways to help elleviate the nuisance, and these tips are a good place to start Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (42) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 10769 |

If you're bored of your regular old factory styled font, there's a way which allows you to change the font on your handset. For those who have a Nokia n95, changing the font is rather easy and should take just a couple of minutes. First, you'll need the FontRouter , which allows you to install new fonts on your phone. Install the app, which should open C:/data/fonts. From here, you simply need to find the fonts you want and copy them from your font folder to the desktop Then connect your cell phone to the PC with a usb cable. and move the font you want into the folder. You can only move one font at a time. After you copy the font over, restart your phone and it should all be working. If you own the Nokia n95, then you should know that you have the capabilities to listen to the radio through the device. It's easy to setup, and get going. Just make sure your symbian software is up to date. The program that provides radio is called 'Virtual Radio', and works on any S60 3rd Editio software. There's a couple of options in terms of downloads. You can use the free version, which is still in beta. It also has advertisements as well. Or you can receive the paid version, without the ads and also receive more stations to listen to. All you have to do is type 'www.vradio.org', and download the necessary software. Load it up, and radio stations will be just a click away. There's around 1,500 in all, varying from different countries across the globe. Are you someone who utilizes the media player in your Nokia n95 to the full extent. If you do, are you also storing a large assortment of ringtones? If you answered yes to both questions then you might have run into a little problem. When playing your music, the media player groups your ring tones in with your music. If you only have one stored ring tone, and a ton of music it's not a problem. But otherwise it can be quite a nuisance. Luckily, there's a way to solve this problem and it's actually a very simple process. Just follow these steps: 1. Download a file manager, so that you can change the name of your folders. You can find one here 2. Create a new folder. Then place all of your ringtone melodies in it. 3. Open up your file manager. Make sure the program you downloaded is a file manager for S60 and not just a regular PC file manager. Once you have your program open, go to the folder that has your ringtones in it. 4. Highlight the folder, and choose 'Options'. Click under attributes, and then press 'System'. Press save and exit the file manager. 5. Just refresh your music player, and all of your ringtones should be gone. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (16) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 6465 |

Editing the theme of your Nokia n95 isn't a difficult task, you just have to know what tools you need along with some basic Photoshop skills. Just be sure you keep to these steps when creating a new theme. - First, you'll need the proper tools for creating your theme. Google for a program called 'Nokia Carbide', this allows you to actually customize the theme of your phone. Also, you need Photoshop, or another image editor. - First you need to find the images you want to use in the back ground of your theme. You'll need two images, one for your idle screen and the active screen. Make sure the images you use for the background are 240x320 pixels, or 320x320 for landscape view. - After installing Carbide, open the program. Select 'Create a new theme', then use the 'Base Graphics' option. - Your first step in Carbide will be to edit the background. From the 'Resources' tab, select 'Background'. Then select the grey rectangle up top. Then you should see an 'Active background' tab at the bottom of the screen, right click and select " Convert and edit in Bitmap Editor". Photoshop should then launch and you can then put your saved image into the background. Then click save. - Now it's time to edit the various parts of your phone to match the background. First is the navigation pane. Select 'Areas' in the Resources tab and then 'Status Area'. Then select the bottom image in the panel. Select the navi pane, and then 'Navi pane background'. Right click on the box, and then you edit and change what should now be a layer. This is where you'll the colors to match your background image.
